I am working for the environment with a passion for our rivers and streams. After a long career in science, business and information management I am applying my hard-earned experience establishing a strong base of information and evidence on local rivers. My focus has increasingly been on the upper Jukskei River catchment. This includes the Modderfontein Stream and Edenvale Stream (also known as Modderfonteinspruit and Eastleighspruit respectively), the smaller Glendower Stream and Oriel Stream in Bedfordview and of course the upper Jukskei River.
I studied biochemistry and microbiology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and awarded a PhD by the University of Cape Town for work on diseases of the Pine Emperor Moth Nudaurelia cytherea . In the northern part of South Africa the larva of this moth is known a the edible ” Mopani Worm”.
Later I obtained an MBA from the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business.
